Procedures
A DECLARATION is required, stating that pursuant to Articles 85, 86, 87, n. 1-2-4, 88 and 89 of the Italian Civil Code there is no obstacle to the marriage. Such declaration can be obtained from this office without the presence of witnesses, with an interpreter if necessary, at least 2 days before the wedding, making an appointment in advance (everyone must be in possession of a valid identity document).
Publications in accordance with art. 116 of the Civil Code are not made.
At the time of the celebration of the marriage, two witnesses (one for each spouse) must be present with a valid identitydocument.
If the spouses do not know the Italian language, they must be assisted by an interpreter (with a valid identity document), who is required to take part in both the declaration and the wedding.
It should be noted that the Office does not provide the interpreter.
The Civil Registry Office is responsible for the final act.

Documentation to be submitted
1. NULLA OSTA (i.e. a declaration stating that there is no impediment to the marriage) issued by the Consular Authority in Italy.
- For citizens of Austria, Germany, the Republic of Moldova and Switzerland, the Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry, issued by the Civil Registry Office of their country, is required.
- For citizens of Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Turkey, the Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry is required (it is advisable to enquire at the respective Consulate about the authorities responsible for issuing).
- For citizens of Norway it is necessary to produce a NULLA OSTA issued by the municipality of residence in Norway, legalized with Apostille (Hague Convention) if translated into Norvegian, the translator’s signature must be legalized with Apostille provided by the Hague Convention.
- For citizens of Poland, a permit issued by the municipality of residence in Poland is required, which is exempt from legalization. If translated into Polish, the translator’s signature must be legalized with Apostille (Hague Convention).
- For Swedish citizens who are resident in Sweden, the permit is issued by the municipality of residence, legalized with an Apostille (Hague Convention) if translated into Swedish, the translator’s signature must be legalized with an Apostille (Hague Convention).
If the law of the foreign state allows it, Nulla Osta can be issued by the competent authority of the country of origin (make sure of this by contacting the Consulate or the Embassy in Italy). In order to be valid in Italy, documents issued abroad must be translated into Italian and legalized by the Italian Authority in the same foreign country  (Consulate or Embassy) or through the Apostille procedure (Hague Convention).
The signature of the Consul or Ambassador must be legalized by the competent Prefettura office (of Latina). The following countries are exempt from this legalization: Austria, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Estonia, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Montenegro, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey.
The document must state that there are no obstacles preventing the marriage under the laws of the country of origin and must be clearly indicated: name, surname, date and place of birth, citizenship, residence, marital status and generality of parents (if not indicated a legalized and translated birth certificate or an extract of birth on a multilingual model are needed). For divorced and widowed women or in case of void marriage, the date of dissolution of the marriage must be indicated.
 
2. For both divorced women with no marriage and widows for less than 300 days: PERMISSION OF THE COURT (Court of Latina) certified by the Court of Appeal of Latina.
3. For minors between 16 and 18 years of age, a Juvenile Court order for admission to marriage with a certification provided by the Court of Appeal of Latina is required.
These documents must be presented to the Marriage Office at least 4 days before the day chosen for the wedding, previously booked. The documents can be forwarded in advance by fax or e-mail, with a copy of the identity document attached.

- by bank transfer payable to the Municipality of Sperlonga Demographic Services - indicate the names of the spouses and the date of marriage in the reason for payment.

- who makes the payment from abroad must also indicate the following code: SWIFT:CRFIIT3F
- postal account no. 11870045 in the name of the Municipality of Sperlonga Demographic Services Department
One week before the wedding takes place, please, send a copy of the bank or postal receipt by fax 0771.548224 or by e-mail: protocollo@pec.comune.sperlonga.it
In the event of failure to marry, there will be no refund of the sums already paid.
